There is no question that I am someone who loves helping people.  I have been a photojournalist, a wedding photographer, and a Realtor; all great careers that are people centered and in many ways had me helping others.  Whether reporting the truth through photos, helping brides have that perfect day or helping families buy a home, there was a satisfaction of helpfulness that I enjoyed.

 

I also someone who believes in fairness and justice and doing the right thing so becoming a Licensed Public Insurance Adjuster was a natural transition.  Like most people, I always thought the Insurance Co. was "my good neighbor" and would always do the right thing.  But as I discovered from personal experience, that isn't always the case. 

I became a Public Insurance Adjuster some time ago after a major company twice under compensated my then widowed, living alone, over 70 year old Mother. Although she'd been with the same Insurance Company over 40 years, in her time of need, they did her wrong.  Once they went cheap on her, and the other time left her holding a $20k bag. 

 

Back then I remember feeling anger and helplessness all at the same time.  We didn't know then we had non-attorney options.  Attorneys may charge 30-40%.  They may even require a high non-refundable retainer to even consider a case so that wasn't a good option.  So, like many, we accepted the Insurance Company's opinion and we took it in the teeth like a Heavyweight's sparing partner.
